INTRODUCTION::


                                                             Social Welfare Department is one of the key Departments of the Government under the Ministry of Women and Child Development which works towards the care and protection of women and children. The department is involved in the all round development of Children, Pregnant Women, Lactating Mothers, Elderly Persons, Differently-Abled Persons, Adolescent Girls, etc. through various schemes.
                                                           The O/o DSWO, Charaideo, under the guidance and help of Shri Paul Barua, ACS, Deputy Commissioner, Charaideo made an effort to reach out to all these people throughout the district and help them avail the benefits and schemes from the Department of Social Welfare. Also efforts were made to sort the issues faced by the beneficiaries and to raise awareness among the people. This report is a compilation of all activities undertaken by the Department of Social Welfare, Charaideo in collaboration with the District Administration, Charaideo.

DISTRICT SOCIAL WELFARE DEPARTMENT, CHARAIDEO
The Department of Social Welfare in Charaideo district consists of four ICDS projects- Abhoipur ICDS, Sonari ICDS, Sapekhati ICDS and Lakwa ICDS. There are 668 Nos. of Anganwadi centres in the district with 663 Nos. Anganwadi Workers and 555 Nos. Anganwadi Helpers in position. Various schemes of the Government directed towards the benefit of Children, Pregnant & Lactating Mothers, Elderly Persons, Differently Abled Persons, etc. are implemented by this department. The schemes implemented by the district of Charaideo are:-


                  1. Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana
                  2. POSHAN Abhiyan
                  3. Deen Dayal Divyangjan Pension Achoni
                  4. Deen Dayal Divyangjan Punorsansthapan Achoni
                  5. Scholarship for Disabled Students
                  6. Scholarship for Disabled Students with Medical and Technical Education
                  7. Sakhi- One Stop Centre
                  8. Supplementary Nutrition Programme
                  9. UDID


                      Apart from these schemes, the department is also involved in care and protection of Elderly Persons, Mentally Retarded/ Mentally Ill Persons, Homeless Persons, etc. The Anganwadi Workers and Anganwadi Helpers are the grass root level workers connected to the beneficiaries even in the remotest areas of the district. They collect the information for all beneficiaries in the district and assist them in availing the schemes. They coordinate with ASHA workers during their home visits to the beneficiaries. They also assist the beneficiaries to the VHSND camps held every Wednesday in the district. They assist the differently-Abled beneficiaries to the health camps to help them avail the schemes through disability cards. During the vaccination drives for COVID-first and second waves, all Supervisors, AWWs and AWHs were actively engaged in vaccination of the beneficiaries. They played an active role in vaccination of the differently-Abled persons and Elderly persons in the district.

ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN BY THE DEPARTMENT IN TEA GARDEN

                                                                                                  Stend the benefits of the schemes of Soci In our effort to exal Welfare Department, we formed a team comprising of DSWO, CDPOs, Supervisors, SAs, POSHAN and PMMVY officials of the district and ICDS Project offices. The teams were headed by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (SW), Assistant Commissioners, Circle Officers, Circle Officer (A) and BDOs under Charaideo district in these meetings. The first meetings were inaugurated by Shri Paul Baruah, ACS, Deputy Commissioner, Charaideo at Naharhabi T.E and Lakwa T.E. The main objectives behind these meetings were as follows:


➢ To raise awareness throughout the district including all tea gardens in the district.
➢ To maximize the number of beneficiaries for all schemes of Social Welfare Department.
➢ To directly solve the issues faced by people while applying for these benefits.


                                                                     Some of the other places visited by the teams are: Borpatra T.E, Bhuyankhat T. E, Naphuk T.E, Salkathani T.E, Kanu T.E, Bimolapur T.E, Tiok T.E, Joboka T.E, Bortimon T.E, Towkak T.E, Manjushree T.E, Doomordollong T.E, Khoomtai T.E, Suffry T.E, Deepling T.E, Hingrijan T.E, Charaideo Porbat T.E, Muktabari T.E, etc. We have also distributed leaflets containing the procedures to apply for the schemes available under District Social Welfare Officer, Charaideo
